2 Gippsland Weekend| Friday, August 28, 2026 The 144th Bairnsdale Show is coming to the Bairnsdale Showgrounds on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7 2026, and now is the time to start thinking about what you might enter. For 144 years, the Bairnsdale Show has been a celebration of our community - showcasing the talents, creativity, knowledge and hard work of people from across the region. One of the most important parts of that tradition is the competitions, where the wonderful skills and achievements of exhibitors can be enjoyed by everyone. Have you entered before? Perhaps you have been entering for years and already know exactly what you will be preparing. Or maybe you haven’t entered for quite some time. Why not make 2026 the year you come back? And if you have never entered before, this could be your year to give it a go. There are so many sections to choose from, including craft, cooking, preserves, cakes, flowers, photography, art, needlework, knitting, woodwork and not forgetting the multitude of animals. You may already have something at home that would make a great entry. Perhaps there is a quilt tucked away in the cupboard, a photograph you are particularly proud of, homemade jam in the pantry, a cake you love to bake, or a project you have spent months creating. The show is about having a go, sharing your skills and being part of a tradition that has been enjoyed by generations of locals from children to adults of all ages. And remember, good entries often take a little preparation. So, don’t leave it until the last minute. Start looking through the competition sections, check the requirements and think about what you could make, bake, create or photograph between now and November. The Bairnsdale Show is more than two days in November - it is a celebration of the people, skills and traditions that make our community special. And for the budding artists out there it’s not too late to come along to the Battle of the bands and singing competition tomorrow, August 29 at Club Eastwood.
